How to Choose a Commercial Refrigerator For Your Restaurant
01
July

There are a lot of elements that help you to have the perfect kitchen in your restaurant, and having the right refrigerator is one of them. It’s hard to know what to look for when you’re searching for the perfect refrigerator, especially if you’ve just gotten rid of one that didn’t work as it should, or even if you’re just starting a new restaurant. Well, we’re here to help you, from the size and fit, to materials, we can help you with what to watch for and what to avoid.

What to keep in mind when looking for a refrigerator that best fits your needs.

Size and Space

Everyone knows that when it comes to the size of your refrigerator it has to fit. Look for a refrigerator that not only is big enough for the amount of food you will have, but will also fit the area you have in your kitchen. Keep an eye out as well for a refrigerator with a door that won’t be annoying in the area of the kitchen your refrigerator will be, one that can open and shut without getting in anyone’s way.

Trustable Brands

Check for brands with a good reputation, it’s easy to want the refrigerator that’s good on your budget with a lower price, but just remember when it comes to refrigerators it’s better to get one that will last longer than one that’s cheap and has a better chance of breaking. Check the reviews online for refrigerators that are prone to lasting longer periods of time and that aren’t easily damaged.

Usability

Find a refrigerator that has the right kind of shelves and drawers. Get the right combination that best fits you and your restaurant needs.

Condenser Location

Make sure that the condenser is where you want it and where you feel is easiest for your employees to get to and clean. Condensers are usually located either at the top of the refrigerator or at the bottom, and both have plenty of pros and cons. Here’s a list to help you decide which one you like better.

Top Mounted Condenser

Pros Less chance of spillage and dirt being able to get crammed into the coils. It usually lasts longer and is easier to clean.

Cons– They are usually hard to reach and requires a ladder.

Bottom Mounted Condenser

Pros– Easier to reach and see.

Cons– Better chance of dirt, grime, and spillage seeping through and getting dirty.

Materials to watch out for

Plastic and Aluminum Shelving

If you see plastic shelves it’s better to turn the other way. Plastic shelves lead to breaks and cracking that in the long run, is just not worth it. Aluminum is weaker than stainless steel and is not a scratch-resistant material.

Materials To Watch for

Foam in Place Insulation

Keep an eye out for any refrigerators with foam in place insulation, this stuff is amazing and super energy-efficient. It can also help keep your food fresher longer.

Interior Lighting

Interior Lighting is a must-have if you want to see where your foods located and have an organized refrigerator.

Locks

Making sure your refrigerators locked and safe can help ensure unwanted thievery and help your refrigerator to stay closed without accidentally getting pushed open while your not there.
